Testing Report
THAT NIGHT I REVIEWED OUR TESTING REPORT and remediation plan. Wayne and I were extremely concerned with the report.
Not because we had toxic mold, we already knew that.
We were concerned that mold tests weren’t conducted in our bedroom, closet, or bathroom vanity. The mold started in the bathroom shower, so it made absolutely no sense not to test the bathroom vanity. The closet was between the tub and the vanity, so it needed to be tested as well. Our bedroom shared a wall with the shower, and that wall definitely needed testing.
The report clarified a critical fact: If tests weren’t conducted in an area, then no significant remediation would be done in that area. Remediators would clean every room, but wouldn’t remove cabinets or other build-ins unless required based on test results.
I called our adjuster and said we needed every room and wall tested, as well as the HVAC system and ductwork. The adjuster said he didn’t know anything about mold and I needed to talk to the testing company.
Did my insurance adjuster just tell me he didn’t know anything about mold? Were we going to make decisions based on my knowledge of toxic mold and toxic mold remediation? If so, we were in big trouble. How would we get through this mess without expert guidance?
